Medeja's Life

Hi there!

Welcome back to my blog.
A couple of weeks ago Revolution released a new makeup collection and it is Friends themed.

The collection consisted of a hand mirror, two makeup bags, a Limitless eyeshadow palette, three small eyeshadow palettes, a pack of three scrunchies, three lipsticks and six lip glosses.

https://www.revolutionbeauty.com/uk/fr/friends

I liked the collection as the whole, but I decided to pick up only a few bits since I do own quite a bit of makeup already and I don't really need it, but I still wanted to give it a go.

I picked up a small Phoebe eyeshadow palette, Rachel and Monica lipsticks and four lip glosses, Rachel, Monica, Chandler and Joey.

Let's start with the eyeshadow palette.
The Phoebe palette is the small blue one in the collection. Is a nine shade palette with eyeshadows and pressed pigments. It has cardboard packaging and what I love the most about it, is the fact that it has a mirror and the shade names are printed onto the palette and are not on a piece of plastic since I do lose them so quickly.

Let's talk about the shades.
The pressed pigments:
- Smelly Cat is a pink and gold shimmer,
- Lobster is a brighter orange shade with a slight shimmer,
- Buffay is a light pinky nude matte shade,
- Science boy is straight-up silver glitter.

The eyeshadows:
- Triplet is a light purple-pink shimmer,
- Ice is a warm brown slightly shimmery shade,
- Flaky is a gold shimmer,
- Bike is a light blue shimmer,
- Ditsy is a bronze shimmer.

The shades are super pretty and they're just what I use most of the time. They are really pigmented and easy to blend. I want something simple that I can work with quick and these are perfect for that. It's a really nice palette to take with you when you travel it's very lightweight and it has all the shades you'd need.

I also purchased two lipsticks, Monica and Rachel.
The packaging is a very pretty pink colour, on the top of the lid is a mouth shape in the shade of the lipsticks.
Monica lipstick is a pretty pink-browny nude perfect for every day.
Rachel lipstick is more of a brown-purple shade which I'm gonna love for the fall time.
The smell reminds me of an M&M's store because they smell like chocolate to me. They are very smooth and moisturizing when I applied it. I was very impressed.

The four lip glosses I got are in the shades Chandler, Joey, Monica and Rachel.

The packaging looks really cool. They are in clear tubes and the lids have such pretty prints.
Rachel lip gloss is a simple clear one. all of them smell of coconut which I really like but might not be everyone's cup of tea. The lid on the Rachel lip gloss has Central Perk logos all over it.
Monica lip gloss is a pinky nude shade and it's the only one with glitter in it. Not my fave but still very pretty. The lid has the famous door photo frame on it.
Chandler lip gloss is a light pink shade. I was not expecting to like it but it's actually very pretty and the lid has thanksgiving turkeys with sunglasses on it. They are such nice consistency and are not sticky which I love.
Last but not least is the Joey lip gloss. It's a muted down purple-brown shade. It is my favourite out of all of them and the lid is covered in little sandwiches.

Overall I think that this collection was a great success. Personally, I loved all of the products that I purchased and I would recommend checking out the rest of the collection on Revolution Beauty website and go get the products before they're gone.

 Hi there!

I hope you're all healthy and doing well in this crazy time.

Some of you might be returning back to school soon and even though I am not returning to UNI this year I still want to share some affordable makeup that you can use for back to school.

I started wearing makeup pretty quickly when I was younger. It was mostly just a mascara, some eyeliner and a lipgloss.

With years, I discovered concealer, powder, bronzer and everything else and I fell in love with creating different looks and trying out new makeup products.

Since I understand that some of you, or most of you are on a budget or you just don't like to spend a lot of money on makeup and still want to get good quality products, I will focus on drugstore makeup brands like Essence cosmetics, Catrice cosmetics, Revolution beauty, ...

I usually start with moisturizer. Use whichever one you use on daily basis, just remember that this is a very important step, especially in the wintertime your skin will need extra moisture in the colder days that are about to come.

Then I go in with a concealer. I put it under my eyes, around my nose, on my chin and on any blemishes or spots that I want to cover up. I usually use a beauty blender to blend it in, but if I don't have one on hand I just use my fingers. I find that the warmth of my skin melts the concealer really nicely.

After that, I'll move to my eyebrows. I don't do them every day, because I do have pretty thick and dark brows, but if I do use a product on them I only use some tinted brow gel or a gel-based pencil I find that they work best for me. I do my brows a bit messier because I like the more natural look, especially for every day, but you can do them the way you like.
I do them before I powder my face, just in case I make a mess so I can fix them with a concealer.

After I'm done with brows, I powder my face, but not too much, since I prefer the more dewy look and my skin is already a bit more on a dry side so if I use too much powder my face can become very cakey very quickly. I usually powder under my eyes, chin and my T zone. My favourite is a translucent powder, I feel like I can not mess it up.

Then I will use a little bit of bronzer and kinda contour with it. I use a very light hand with it and once I put it on my cheekbones, around my hairline and on my jawline I use anything that's left on the brush to blend it in with my neck a bit and go all over my face with it, just to make that natural looking tanned look.

Next, I move on to my eyes. I will sometimes just use the same bronzer and place it in the crease with a fluffy brush and really blend it out. If I'm feeling a bit fancier, I'll put a soft shimmer shade on the centre of my lid but nothing too pigmented. I do put a lighter mat shade or a soft metallic on my inner corner and on my brow bone to make my eyes a bit brighter.

I used to use black liner on my lower and top lash line, but I try to stay away from it now, I just don't think it looks that good, at least on me, and it's too much for an everyday makeup look. If I do opt for eyeliner, I just use a liquid liner and do a very thin line on my lid and sometimes I would wing it out just a bit so that I visually extend my lash line.

One beauty product I feel like I could no live without is mascara. I'm very lucky to have long black lashes, but there are times I just want to add an extra touch to the makeup look I use a few coats of mascara so I don't have to use falsies, just because I suck at putting on false lashes. If I do use them, I prefer to use individual lashes. I think you can achieve more of a natural look with them, they do take more time, but in my opinion, they look so much better.
But again, on an everyday basis, I do just use some mascara and that's it.

As for the lips, I would normally just use some lip balm, since my lips get extremely dry in the wintertime, but I do use a very light nude shade sometimes. Kinda like my lips but better shade. But lately, I have been very much into lipglosses. I used to dislike them because everything was getting stuck to my lips especially my hair in the wind. But I discovered some very good non-sticky glosses lately and I am all up for it. I rediscovered my love for them.

I hope you have a good and successful school year!

Stay healthy and safe!

Hi there!

A couple of weeks ago, I have ordered a few products from Revolution website. I spotted a new range from Roxi x Revolution, or should I say an extension to her first collaboration with the brand.

If you don't know who Roxi is, she is an English youtube, who focuses her videos on testing different clothing brands, makeup and beauty brands, she also does some food-related videos and her travelling vlogs are always so fun to watch and they really make you wanna travel the world.

Last year she announced her collaboration with Makeup Revolution as she created two eyeshadow palettes and a contour and highlight palette. I did not buy any of her products then, mostly because I have quite a few similar eyeshadow palettes, but this year she created a blush palette and a trio of liquid lipsticks.

Although I am not a big blush wearer, I decided that I'm gonna give it a go. So I ended up ordering the Blush burst face palette, Highlight and contour palette from her first release and the Ride or Die lip trio.

Blush burst palette:
When I first saw this product, the packaging reminded me a lot of Soph X Revolution highlighter palette that she created a few years ago. it is not my favourite kind of packaging especially because the plastic feels a bit cheap, but I know that Revolution has quite a few of their palettes in this packaging so I got kind of used to it.
The shade range of the blushes seems pretty good. There are eight different shades, four of them are aimed for lighter skin users and four of them for darker skin. Personally, I can use about three shades as blushes, maybe four, the rest are a bit too dark for me but I can use them as eyeshadow and I think I'll get good use out of them.

The texture of all of the shades is very nice. They are not all as buttery as I would like them, especially the ones with a bit of shimmer, but I still think they are very soft if you swatch them with your fingers. When I went in with the brush, I did notice a little bit of kickback in the pan, but it is nothing too drastic that you couldn't work with, but with the fact that they are not pressed as hard that also means they are a lot more pigmented and you need a very small amount to get the results that you'd like.
Overall I was pretty happy with the palette. For the price, 11.99€ I think it's a pretty good palette if you are looking for a cheaper but quality blush.

Highlight and contour palette:
I bought this palette because I do not have any good contour shades that would work for my skin tone. I am pretty pale and have kind of a yellow undertone to my skin, so I always struggled to find a good contour shade for myself.

The price of this palette is the same as the Blush burst palette and for that price, you get four contour shades and four highlight shades. They are created so that they fit most skin colours. I can personally use three contour shades and two highlighters.

The contour shades are all very soft when swatching with fingers, there was a little bit of kickback in the pan but very minimal. All shades are very easy to blend and are buildable, so if you prefer softer or a bit darker contour you can achieve it all with this palette.
The same goes for highlighters. They are very soft when you swatch them, they do have a tiny bit of kickback but that means that they are very pigmented and honestly I haven't used that good of a highlighter from affordable brands for a while. If you are looking for a good contour and highlight palette I would definitely recommend it and the price (11.99€)for a quality palette is super affordable.

Ride Or Die lip trio:
Most of the lipstick shades that I own are nudes. I do like to wear liquid lipstick but I never really found my perfect nude shade until now. Roxi created three shades in two different formulas, matt and cream. The price for all three is 11.99€. She named them after the places the shades remind her of, so the names of the three shades are New York, London and Tokyo.

I am not the biggest fan of liquid lipsticks, I guess because I never found any that would stay on for a long time and would be comfortable to wear. I think these are pretty good. The matt ones are a little bit too dry for me, but nothing a lip balm underneath them would fix it. It does affect the formula a bit so that it comes off quicker but it just feels better on my lips and it is easier to wear. However, the cream one is amazing. It is also my favourite shade out of all three. It is very light on the lips and even though it is a cream formula it stays on for a long time and I love it.

I think that overall this collection is really good. The products are amazing for the price that you pay. I would definitely recommend the entire collection.

I hope you are all staying safe and healthy!

Hi there!

Since all of this self-isolation and quarantine has started and we are not allowed to leave our houses anymore, I have been stuck behind four walls doing school work, reading, watching Netflix and youtube.

So I want to share some of my favourite movies, series and youtube channels to watch, while we can not do much else.

I'm gonna start with some of my go-to youtube channels.

- Zoe Sugg, I have watched and followed Zoe for over 5 years now. She makes beauty, fashion and mostly lifestyle videos. She makes pretty long vlogs which I love and especially right now it helps me take my mind off things for at least 30 minutes. ( https://www.youtube.com/user/MoreZoella )

- Sophie Louise, she makes mostly testing makeup videos, but also lifestyle and fashion. I love her channel because I can relate to her "nerdy" side and she can always make me smile. ( https://www.youtube.com/user/sophielouisebeauty  )

- This Gathered Nest, it's a family of 10, mom, dad and eight kids and I love it because they are such a lovely family and they just vlog and show how life is for them and I really enjoy watching their content. ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJfx4F-W-GYBHaHLMnYzvjg )

Next, I wanna talk about books.

- The one by John Marrs, I have been loving this book, it's a perfect combination of romance and thriller. It follows peoples life after they get their DNA tested to find their perfect match. Some stories are positive and some not so much. The way it's written it's really interesting and it keeps you from putting down the book. - Neighbor Dearest by Penelope Ward, it follows a girl that got her heartbroken. With moving into her new apartment, she also gets a new neighbour. As the story unfolds they start to hangout she starts to fall in love with him. ( https://www.bookdepository.com/Neighbor-Dearest-Penelope-Ward/9781535036573?ref=grid-view&qid=1587226580423&sr=1-4 )

- One Of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus, it's a mystery story set in a high school, where five students attend detention, but only four left. ( https://www.bookdepository.com/One-Of-Us-Is-Lying/9780141375632 )

Next up is my Netflix go to's.
I am not really into all the shows that everyone is watching so...

- Good Place (series), starring Kristen bell, Ted Danson, William Jackson Harper.
A comedy show where a woman named Eleanor dies and goes to the ''good place''. The problems start when she finds out she is there by mistake.

- The Vampire Diaries (series), starring Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder.
A fantasy show about vampires, that I am sure you have all herd about before. But if you haven't, it's a bout a highschool girl named Elena, that lost both her parents in a car accident, but things get interesting and very complicated when she falls for Stefan, who is trying to hide the fact that he is a vampire.

- Now you see me 2 (movie), starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson.
Againg I am sure you have seen this movie before, but this was actually the first time I have seen it and I loved it. If you haven't seen it, it's about a group of four illusionists and are trying to take down a shady taycoon and his tech device.

- Miss Americana (documentary), starring Taylor Swift.
It follows Taylor's life and process of writing her latest album Lover and her struggle in the industry and how to stand up to harassment and how to use her full power of voice.

And I wanted to share a few other series that I like watching that are not on Netflix, but I am sure you can find them online.

- One Chicago, is a compilation of three shows Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med. there are also some shows that are connected to them and are a part of Dick Wolf's universe like Law & Order SVU and FBI. Each show is following personal and working lives of their main characters. There are also some crossover episodes, which means all three shows follow the same storyline.
If you like action, drama and romance all in one, I think you should give them a go.

- MacGyver, is a series reboot of 1985 show. It follows a young genius that works for a secret agency and is saving the world with his genious-level engineering, physics, military training in bomb disposal,... I really like it bcause it allows me to bring out my geeky side.

Hi there!

A couple weeks ago I got an email from a lovely lady, asking me if I would like to test a new eyeshadow palette from essence.

I had a look and it looked very pretty on the pictures, so I said yes.

When I got it I decided to play around with it for a bit and I created a few makeup looks that would work for any parties you have coming up, some of them would work as everyday looks for school or work.
I also bought one of the lip oils that came with the range and a setting spray.

I want to talk about the palette first and after that, I'll share two of the makeup looks I put together with you.

First, the packaging. I think it is so pretty. It is made from silvery cardboard so it's recycling friendly and that also makes it very light and easy to travel with. It's also pretty decent size it's not too big or too small so it would fit nicely in any smaller makeup bags or even in your handbag.

https://licilasicdn.s3.amazonaws.com/public/product_images/29369/gallery/medium/944350945.jpg?ver=1550061788

Inside you have 11 shades of which three of them are matt, I would say one is a shimmer and the seven left are metallic shadows.

Matt shades: light nude, caramel light brown, dark chocolate brown
Shimmer shade: light pink
Metallic shades: purple, light pink, bright gold, champagne, darker gold, bronze, light brown

Personally, I love shades inside, the only thing that bothers me a little bit is the fact that there are only three matt shades.
I would prefer if instead seven metallics at one more would be a matt pink or maybe a purple so you can create a pink/purple look.

So I created two looks with this palette: a gold one and a pink one.

For the pink one, I used the nude matt shade just to set my concealer. Then I went in with a shade from SOPH X Revolution Extra spice palette named Mulled wine and placed in my crease and on my lower lash line, I then darkened my outer corner with a shade named Enchanted from the same palette.

After that, I used the purple metallic shade from the Essence Give me crystals palette and placed it on the centre of my lid, in the inner corner of my eye I used the light pink shimmer and for a highlight, I used the champagne shade.

I used Maybelline total temptation mascara on top and bottom lashes and added a pair of Kiss eyelashes, which I don't know the style of because I had them for a while now.

The golde one I created just with the Essence palette. I used the same nude shade to set my concealer first, then I went in with the light brown shade in my crease and under my eye as well. In the outer corner of my eye, I put the dark brown shade which I kind of dragged to the middle of my crease.

In the centre of my lid, I placed the bronze metallic shade and in the inner corner I used the light gold metallic shade and I also dragged it on the inner portion of my lower lash line. Over the top as an inner corner highlight, I used the champagne shade. To finish it all of I tried to do a winged eyeliner which I suck at, so I tried my best. 😅

I also used the same lashes and mascara that I did with the pink look, but I had really hard time placing lashes on to my eye, they did not want to stick to no matter what, so please excuse that.

I really like the palette. The shadows are really nicely pigmented
and blend easily. I figured that the metallic shades work best if you use it with fingers or a wet brush. For that, I used the setting spray from the same collection.

https://i1.wp.com/allaboutbertina.nl/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/ESSENCE-TREND-EDITION-%E2%80%9CCRYSTAL-DREAMS%E2%80%9D-LUMINIZING-FIXING-SPRAY.png?resize=193%2C534&ssl=1

I really like the setting spray because it has shimmer inside it and that makes my skin look really healthy and gives me that extra glow, the only thing that bothers me is that it doesn't spray in a fine mist, it's more like in drops.
Maybe I got a broken one or something, but I'll just pour it in a different spray bottle and it will be just as good as new.

https://maquibeauty.com/images/productos/essence-crystal-dreams-aceite-labial-con-color-01-frozen-kisses-1-51132.jpeg

I also tested a tinted lip oil from the collection in a shade Frozen kisses and honestly I really like it. It's not pure oil so it's more like a lip gloss with some sort of oil added in, but regardless I have been using it all the time.
I tend to reach for it on a daily bases even if I am not wearing any makeup. It makes my lips look really nice and glossy it moisturizes them and leaves them so soft. I really love it.

Overall, I do think this whole collection is worth the money and if you see it in your store you should give it a go!

Thank you so much for reading!

I will see you soon with a new post!
