Hi there!
I hope you're all healthy and doing well in this crazy time.
Some of you might be returning back to school soon and even though I am not returning to UNI this year I still want to share some affordable makeup that you can use for back to school.
I started wearing makeup pretty quickly when I was younger. It was mostly just a mascara, some eyeliner and a lipgloss.
With years, I discovered concealer, powder, bronzer and everything else and I fell in love with creating different looks and trying out new makeup products.
Since I understand that some of you, or most of you are on a budget or you just don't like to spend a lot of money on makeup and still want to get good quality products, I will focus on drugstore makeup brands like Essence cosmetics, Catrice cosmetics, Revolution beauty, ...
I usually start with moisturizer. Use whichever one you use on daily basis, just remember that this is a very important step, especially in the wintertime your skin will need extra moisture in the colder days that are about to come.
Then I go in with a concealer. I put it under my eyes, around my nose, on my chin and on any blemishes or spots that I want to cover up. I usually use a beauty blender to blend it in, but if I don't have one on hand I just use my fingers. I find that the warmth of my skin melts the concealer really nicely.
After that, I'll move to my eyebrows. I don't do them every day, because I do have pretty thick and dark brows, but if I do use a product on them I only use some tinted brow gel or a gel-based pencil I find that they work best for me. I do my brows a bit messier because I like the more natural look, especially for every day, but you can do them the way you like.
I do them before I powder my face, just in case I make a mess so I can fix them with a concealer.
After I'm done with brows, I powder my face, but not too much, since I prefer the more dewy look and my skin is already a bit more on a dry side so if I use too much powder my face can become very cakey very quickly. I usually powder under my eyes, chin and my T zone. My favourite is a translucent powder, I feel like I can not mess it up.
Then I will use a little bit of bronzer and kinda contour with it. I use a very light hand with it and once I put it on my cheekbones, around my hairline and on my jawline I use anything that's left on the brush to blend it in with my neck a bit and go all over my face with it, just to make that natural looking tanned look.
Next, I move on to my eyes. I will sometimes just use the same bronzer and place it in the crease with a fluffy brush and really blend it out. If I'm feeling a bit fancier, I'll put a soft shimmer shade on the centre of my lid but nothing too pigmented. I do put a lighter mat shade or a soft metallic on my inner corner and on my brow bone to make my eyes a bit brighter.
I used to use black liner on my lower and top lash line, but I try to stay away from it now, I just don't think it looks that good, at least on me, and it's too much for an everyday makeup look. If I do opt for eyeliner, I just use a liquid liner and do a very thin line on my lid and sometimes I would wing it out just a bit so that I visually extend my lash line.
One beauty product I feel like I could no live without is mascara. I'm very lucky to have long black lashes, but there are times I just want to add an extra touch to the makeup look I use a few coats of mascara so I don't have to use falsies, just because I suck at putting on false lashes. If I do use them, I prefer to use individual lashes. I think you can achieve more of a natural look with them, they do take more time, but in my opinion, they look so much better.
But again, on an everyday basis, I do just use some mascara and that's it.
As for the lips, I would normally just use some lip balm, since my lips get extremely dry in the wintertime, but I do use a very light nude shade sometimes. Kinda like my lips but better shade. But lately, I have been very much into lipglosses. I used to dislike them because everything was getting stuck to my lips especially my hair in the wind. But I discovered some very good non-sticky glosses lately and I am all up for it. I rediscovered my love for them.
I hope you have a good and successful school year!
Stay healthy and safe!
