Medeja's Life

Hi there!

A couple weeks ago I got an email from a lovely lady, asking me if I would like to test a new eyeshadow palette from essence.

I had a look and it looked very pretty on the pictures, so I said yes.

When I got it I decided to play around with it for a bit and I created a few makeup looks that would work for any parties you have coming up, some of them would work as everyday looks for school or work.
I also bought one of the lip oils that came with the range and a setting spray.

I want to talk about the palette first and after that, I'll share two of the makeup looks I put together with you.

First, the packaging. I think it is so pretty. It is made from silvery cardboard so it's recycling friendly and that also makes it very light and easy to travel with. It's also pretty decent size it's not too big or too small so it would fit nicely in any smaller makeup bags or even in your handbag.

Inside you have 11 shades of which three of them are matt, I would say one is a shimmer and the seven left are metallic shadows.

Matt shades: light nude, caramel light brown, dark chocolate brown
Shimmer shade: light pink
Metallic shades: purple, light pink, bright gold, champagne, darker gold, bronze, light brown

Personally, I love shades inside, the only thing that bothers me a little bit is the fact that there are only three matt shades.
I would prefer if instead seven metallics at one more would be a matt pink or maybe a purple so you can create a pink/purple look.

So I created two looks with this palette: a gold one and a pink one.

For the pink one, I used the nude matt shade just to set my concealer. Then I went in with a shade from SOPH X Revolution Extra spice palette named Mulled wine and placed in my crease and on my lower lash line, I then darkened my outer corner with a shade named Enchanted from the same palette.

After that, I used the purple metallic shade from the Essence Give me crystals palette and placed it on the centre of my lid, in the inner corner of my eye I used the light pink shimmer and for a highlight, I used the champagne shade.

I used Maybelline total temptation mascara on top and bottom lashes and added a pair of Kiss eyelashes, which I don't know the style of because I had them for a while now.

The golde one I created just with the Essence palette. I used the same nude shade to set my concealer first, then I went in with the light brown shade in my crease and under my eye as well. In the outer corner of my eye, I put the dark brown shade which I kind of dragged to the middle of my crease.

In the centre of my lid, I placed the bronze metallic shade and in the inner corner I used the light gold metallic shade and I also dragged it on the inner portion of my lower lash line. Over the top as an inner corner highlight, I used the champagne shade. To finish it all of I tried to do a winged eyeliner which I suck at, so I tried my best. 😅

I also used the same lashes and mascara that I did with the pink look, but I had really hard time placing lashes on to my eye, they did not want to stick to no matter what, so please excuse that.

I really like the palette. The shadows are really nicely pigmented
and blend easily. I figured that the metallic shades work best if you use it with fingers or a wet brush. For that, I used the setting spray from the same collection.

I really like the setting spray because it has shimmer inside it and that makes my skin look really healthy and gives me that extra glow, the only thing that bothers me is that it doesn't spray in a fine mist, it's more like in drops.
Maybe I got a broken one or something, but I'll just pour it in a different spray bottle and it will be just as good as new.

I also tested a tinted lip oil from the collection in a shade Frozen kisses and honestly I really like it. It's not pure oil so it's more like a lip gloss with some sort of oil added in, but regardless I have been using it all the time.
I tend to reach for it on a daily bases even if I am not wearing any makeup. It makes my lips look really nice and glossy it moisturizes them and leaves them so soft. I really love it.

Overall, I do think this whole collection is worth the money and if you see it in your store you should give it a go!

Thank you so much for reading!

I will see you soon with a new post!
